SHOWJUMPING

European Champions Crowned in Gothenburg

The European Showjumping Championships wrapped up in Gothenburg, Sweden, yesterday with the crowning of some new champions. Jeroen Dubbeldam (Netherlands) rode the formidable "Up and Coming" to gold in the individual competition, showcasing an immaculate round in the final. Silver went to Germany's Ludger Beerbaum riding "Goldfever" and bronze to Belgium's Dirk Demeersman riding "Butterfly".

The team competition saw a dominant performance from the Netherlands team, consisting of Dubbeldam, Albert Voorn, Piet Raymakers and Marc Houtzager. Germany finished in silver position with Great Britain taking the bronze. This strong finish will no doubt give British riders and supporters a boost going into the next few years.
