Showjumping
Dutch Dominance at Hickstead: The 2000 Hickstead Derby was dominated by Dutch riders. Eric Lamaze of Canada rode "Wordsworth" to take a historic victory in the feature class, the Hickstead Derby, becoming the first North American to ever win the coveted prize. His compatriot, Judy-Ann Melchior, followed closely behind, taking second on "Le Primeur", cementing a strong showing for the Canadian contingent. The event also showcased strong performances from the Dutch contingent, led by Jan Tops on "Capital." Hickstead remains a favourite amongst the world's best, with competitors and spectators alike charmed by the traditional charm of this beautiful venue.
Jumping into the Future at The Royal Windsor Horse Show:
While Hickstead celebrated the past with its rich heritage, The Royal Windsor Horse Show showcased a look towards the future. Britain's Laura Kraut rode "Sophia" to victory in the Grand Prix class, beating Olympic gold medallist Jeroen Dubbeldam and "Jenson" to the top spot. Ankerstrom and "Wilamina" shine at CDIO Saumur: Sweden's Louise Ankerstrom, aboard the exceptional mare "Wilamina," stole the show at the prestigious CDIO* Saumur competition. Her consistent scores across multiple classes demonstrated exceptional riding artistry and horsemanship. This win marked a significant breakthrough for Louise and "Wilamina," solidifying their place within the elite ranks of international dressage.
Team Great Britain Claims Victory at CDI Rotterdam: The British team reigned supreme at the CDI** Rotterdam, demonstrating exceptional cohesion and talent. Leading the pack, the reigning world champion, Carl Hester, astride his star, "Uthopia," produced a breathtaking performance, a key factor in securing the gold.
A Rising Star: Laura Bechtolsheimer
Young British rider Laura Bechtolsheimer continues to captivate audiences with her graceful partnership with the mare "Minstral Hojris."
