The cold grip of winter has descended upon the Highlands, but that doesn't stop the horses from gracing our fields and participating in various events.
Inverness Horse Trials
The annual Inverness Horse Trials kicked off this weekend, with a bumper turnout of riders from across Scotland and even some travelling from England. Despite the challenging terrain due to the recent snowfalls, riders rose to the occasion with many fantastic performances. Local favourite, Fiona McDougall, dominated the intermediate class with her young but talented gelding, "Braveheart," and took home the coveted Inverness Horse Trials trophy.
Highland Pony Championships
As part of the annual Highland Pony Championships, held this week at the Balmoral Estate, the focus was on breeding and conformation. Our very own Equiworld team was present to judge the "In Hand" classes, where ponies are presented for their conformation, gait, and temperament. The highlight was the presentation of the "Champion of Champions" title to "Glencoe", a stunning chestnut mare from the MacPherson family.

Wellington, Florida - Sunshine and Show Jumping
Across the Atlantic, the equestrian world is buzzing with activity at the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida. This week saw some thrilling show jumping classes, with Olympian Beezie Madden taking top honours in the "Grand Prix" class, aboard her exceptional mount, "Cortes C". The crowds were on their feet as she executed the demanding course flawlessly, proving her dominance in the discipline.
German Dressage Powerhouse - Isabell Werth Dominates
Staying in Europe, the legendary Isabell Werth, once again proved her undeniable supremacy in dressage at the recent CDI* show in Hagen, Germany. She took first place with her "champion" mare "Weihegold" in the Grand Prix and freestyle classes, a testament to her extraordinary partnership and their impressive artistry.
