Across the Atlantic, it’s all about the World Cup
The FEI World Cup Jumping Finals have arrived in Gothenburg, Sweden, and excitement is building! This year, it’s all eyes on the USA’s Conrad Homfeld, a truly exceptional rider who has just achieved his second World Cup qualifier victory with Laddie at the American Equestrian Association (AEA) Finals held in Atlanta. Homfeld joins other accomplished competitors including the current World Champion Eric Lamaze, who secured his qualification in Lexington. The event promises to be truly captivating, as riders will vie for the ultimate glory of the FEI World Cup title, with the added challenge of competing on foreign soil.
European Riders Making Their Mark
While Homfeld is making waves in America, our European riders are also performing impressively on home turf. The CSI-W World Cup Qualifier in Maastricht was won by none other than Peter Geiss of Germany with his majestic Concorde. Geiss delivered a remarkable performance, making the difference in the challenging second round, claiming the top spot.
Across the Channel, British rider Nick Skelton secured victory at the Olympia World Cup Qualifier. He navigated a tricky course with First Class to deliver a winning performance and become a strong contender for the final spot on the British team. Skelton will have a challenging few months as he prepares for the Olympics in Atlanta, where he aims to compete with the British Jumping Team.
Showjumping Stars Embracing The Classics
The CSIO3* Nations Cup competition at Millstreet has already brought in some notable performances. Italy emerged victorious with a dominant team performance. However, it was Eric Lamaze of Canada who captivated audiences with his impressive display of skill and artistry aboard the charismatic Classic. The pair secured the second place and added a dash of international flair to the competitive environment at Millstreet.
Dressage Stars Shine in Hamburg
From the grand arenas of the showjumping circuit, we turn our attention to the world of dressage, where the German city of Hamburg hosted an exhilarating CDI. *Isabell Wertens, a legendary name in the discipline, delivered an inspiring performance, leading the way with a truly memorable display of partnership and skill with Gigolo . However, the competition was not without its share of thrilling drama as Nicole Uphoff claimed second place, proving that her legendary reign is not yet over. Her graceful partnership with Rembrandt is certainly one to watch in the years to come.
