The British equestrian community is abuzz this week following the news that Hickstead, one of the country's most iconic show jumping courses, has been purchased by a group of private investors. The purchase brings an end to years of uncertainty regarding the future of the renowned venue, much loved by both riders and spectators. This comes as welcome news to British riders and supporters of the sport alike. It's reassuring to know that the future of Hickstead, with its legacy stretching back over half a century, is secured, ensuring its place at the heart of equestrian sport in the UK.

On a personal note, our very own Equiworld staff had the opportunity to witness a brilliant display of show jumping talent at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh. * This year's Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) saw *Geoff Billington claim the coveted Championship title with Caristo. Geoff’s skill and artistry combined with Caristo's incredible athleticism provided a truly thrilling show. It’s no wonder the pair received thunderous applause!

Germany

Germany is making a strong statement in the international dressage arena. Isabell Werth and her remarkable stallion, Gigolo, have continued their reign of dominance, securing top honours at the prestigious CDI-W Stuttgart. It’s becoming a familiar sight to see this unbeatable duo at the top of the podium, cementing their reputation as true dressage royalty.

Ireland

The world of racing is experiencing a real buzz of excitement, all thanks to Shergar’s son, Cregganswell, * who is being touted as a rising star. This charismatic thoroughbred, bred in Ireland, is catching the eyes of many, including *leading trainer Mick Channon. Could Cregganswell be the next big name in racing?

USA

Across the Atlantic, the Kentucky Horse Park is set to host the 1994 FEI World Equestrian Games, with preparations well underway. With equestrian enthusiasts across the world anxiously awaiting the spectacle, this promises to be an exceptional event, showcasing the very best talent on the international stage. We are particularly excited to see the American vaulting team’s performances – they're sure to bring some breathtaking agility and grace to the Games.

And finally, an intriguing news update from Australia…

The annual Melbourne Royal Show took place this past week, drawing crowds of both seasoned enthusiasts and casual onlookers. Amidst the colourful spectacle, a unique initiative drew a great deal of interest - the ‘Dressage for Disabled’ programme. This program aimed to increase awareness of the transformative impact of dressage on riders living with disabilities.
