Dover had much to celebrate in 1993, including a victorious performance at the Dressage World Cup in London. He attributes his success to his dedication to both horse and rider partnership, stating that "Success doesn’t happen overnight – it requires commitment, hard work, and a genuine love for the sport."
His reflections on the year ahead highlight his ambitions, with a particular focus on strengthening his team for the upcoming 1994 World Equestrian Games. He believes the experience of 1993 will serve him well as he continues to build upon his impressive legacy.
The Changing Face of Breeding: UK and Ireland.
The breeding world is undergoing a period of exciting change, with a shift towards new bloodlines and breeding techniques. Both the UK and Ireland are at the forefront of this movement, with new programs and initiatives promoting genetic diversity and fostering a strong breeding future.
In the UK, a key focus is on promoting sustainable practices in breeding, ensuring the long-term health and wellbeing of horses. Breeders are also actively exploring new bloodlines, introducing genetic variation to enhance performance and resilience in offspring.
In Ireland, there is a growing interest in introducing warmblood lines into traditional Irish horse breeds, aiming to improve athleticism and performance. This strategy aims to ensure that the Irish horse remains relevant in the modern equestrian world while retaining its cherished heritage.
The changing landscape in breeding will likely see even greater innovation in the years to come, with both countries leading the charge in creating a stronger and more diverse future for their equestrian breeds.
