We'll be bringing you the latest news, results, and insights from every corner of the world, ensuring you are always in the know about all things equine.
This week, we are covering the following highlights:
The New Year's Day Show Jumping Spectacular
The annual New Year's Day show jumping competition in Aachen, Germany, drew large crowds and featured a dazzling display of athleticism and horsemanship.
The champion, for the second year running, was German rider Marcus Ehning. His 10-year-old chestnut mare, “Finesse”, navigated the demanding course with breathtaking precision and speed, winning the event with a clear round and the fastest time.
In an exciting runner-up finish, British rider, John Whitaker, once again demonstrated his world-renowned skills with his trusty steed “Milton”, taking second place.
This event was a truly fantastic spectacle to welcome in the new year, showcasing the talent and dedication of some of the world’s top riders.
Polo on the Pampas
From the fields of Germany to the pampas of Argentina, the thrill of polo continues. The Argentine Open, known for its fast-paced action and fierce competition, took place over the holiday period, with a final played on the 31st of December.
The eventual victors, La Aguada, secured the prestigious trophy in a tense match against the defending champions, Ellerstina. The match was closely fought, with both teams displaying brilliant strategy and masterful riding skills. The result once again demonstrates the enduring dominance of Argentine polo in the global sporting landscape.
Kentucky Horse Park’s Winter Celebration
While the temperatures may be dropping across the United States, the spirit of equestrianism is heating up at the Kentucky Horse Park.
The park is hosting a month-long winter festival packed with events and activities. Visitors can enjoy demonstrations of horse-drawn carriages, dressage, and even experience a meet and greet with some of the park’s resident horses.
The festival also features the “Winter Lights Spectacular” which sees the park transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland, with thousands of lights illuminating the landscape and illuminating the horse park’s beauty for the season.
A Look at the Equine Market in the Far East
The world of equestrian sports is not limited to Europe and North America. The market is steadily expanding across Asia, particularly in Japan, Korea, and China.
There has been a marked increase in the demand for horses and related equipment, driving a flourishing trade across the region. The Korean Equestrian Federation reports an increase in memberships and participation in both professional and recreational equestrian disciplines.
